Search & Selection donates laptops to Computers for Africa
S&S is surely not the only company with a stack of unused laptops gathering dust in a cupboard or box. They are not really broken, but employees and candidates still prefer to use a newer model. Is discarding them the only option?
It is a waste to just throw away old laptops that still work perfectly or recycle them in a recycling centre. That's why Search & Selection has partnered with South Cluster NGO. With their 'Computers for Africa' project, they are collecting unused laptops and computers to be installed at secondary schools in Africa. The aim is to advance African education with 25,000 computers by 2025.
The 12 laptops we collected were tested and repaired by a South Cluster NGO staff member. All data was deleted from the computers so that they are immediately ready for use when they arrive at their new destination.
On a previous trip to South Africa, CEO Frans Claerhout already personally gave a laptop to Antoon, a painter from Pretoria, so that he could study at the UNISA open university. Thanks to our structural cooperation with South Cluster NGO, we can be sure that our unused laptops end up where they will make the biggest difference.
